Write Attack! is a very neat writing tool. You set a timer for your session and specify how many words you’d like to write.
Once you write the first ten words, the timer starts counting back. You now have X number of minutes to make that target and write as many words as you decided to write. While the timer is running, you cannot save your file, and you can’t copy your text elsewhere. It’s just you and your text spending some quality time together (and the distracting animated mascot in the top right corner).
If you fail to reach your word count before the timer runs out, your text is toast. Yup, … it’s all gone, deleted, no backup. That makes for some strong motivation for you to get to your target.
Of course, if you’re really desperate, you can always just start randomly mashing on the keyboard to make it count words before the time runs out. If that’s what you want to do, though, you might as well use Notepad.
If you need a bit of a push to write, Write Attack! can certainly be an interesting experiment (as long as you play by the rules and avoid setting impossible targets).
